A work that was composed in Japan and is inspired by traditional Japanese music and culture. The texts are from old collections of poems from the Middle Ages to the early 1800s (in German translation) and describe the seasons.
The tone material uses traditional Japanese tone scales (pentatonics). In part, European instruments try to imitate traditional Japanese musical instruments.
